Artist Statement
Artist statement My art experience and experiments vary because of my multiple interests. I am largely inspired by the diversity and peculiarities I find in people, places, cultures and lifestyles. I seek to create a balanced fusion of the contemporary with my ethnicity, in the style, texture, motifs, colors or rhythm of my work.
I paint oils on canvas but recently started experimenting with metals and panels. The paintings are subtle reflections of my view of life. Textile and design are major interest areas. Batik & tie-dye on fabrics, painting on plain and dyed cloths in varying shades and designs are my ultimate fusion platforms. The entire process is a fascinating journey for me. Jewelry craft is a passion that gives me a new meaning to the word ‘exotic’.
The ideas are endless and unlimited. Colors, objects, twists, textures, that form a variety of intercultural pieces. There is no dull moment there. My Photography is about making a diary of everyday life. Within the mundane are the remarkable scenes that show up, spice up and brand our memories for ever. The ability to capture those is a great privilege for me. My art enables me to tangibly fuse the familiar with the peculiar in a single piece, be it a painting, clothe, jewelry, design or photograph.
I would be burdened with the excess weight if I do not share my ideas. The process is synonymous to our life’s journies. It can be sweet, sour, rough, exciting, painful, awkward and graceful or a long uncertain wait but eventually it turns out perfect only because the faith is right.
